1981 Alvarez Silver Belle
Mahogany, tube-and-plate construction, 20-hole heavy weight bell bronze tone ring (likely the same source as
the famed Gold Stars of 1980), multi-ply extra-thick rim, ebony fingerboard with accurate pre-war
Hearts-and-flowers inlay, Kershner Tailpiece, Snuffy Smith bridge, 5-star head.  This is a "sleeper" banjo that
has some serious flathead tone:
MP3 sample - Fire Ball Mail . These were a very good Japanese attempt to take
on the Mastertone-style market in the US in the early 1980's.  The Silver Belle was the pinnacle of the Alvarez
line at the time.  See
Top Asian Banjos - Paul Hawthorne.  Condition: Finish is in excellent condition with no
obvious nicks or dings, hardware plating is all intact with light discoloration due to age. Period hard case
included (Washburn logo).  A great sounding, heavy-duty flathead, perfect for someone wanting to upgrade
from a beginner instrument to something more full bodied, at a great price (reduced!).  $600.
